Other jewelry creations

So, I got into a productive mood yesterday and made a couple more things.
I made a purple crystal cross which I really like:

And also a pair of red/white/blue cross earrings -  a friend of mine's mother likes all things red/white/blue - she wanted cross earrings, so this is what she's getting:

I also made a pendant that is all wire wrapped - I like it but since it was my first one I have to practice it a little bit more to get it "just right":

I guess that's it for now.

New Bracelet Design

I found a really cool-looking bracelet in one of my mags I subscribe to and wanted to try it out.  I think the bracelet turned out looking good -  It does need some work (I'm really not happy at all with the clasp!) but I think if I work with it I can make it saleable, perhaps.
Here are the pics:

They are wrapped in pure copper wire and the beads are chinese crystal roundelles.  There are also small (3mm) copper beads.  I kind of like it.  I'll probably make some more.

Taking a personal "snow day"

It's been quite a long time since I called in sick to work, and I just felt today was the day.  So I called in.  I do have a bit of a runny nose and scratchy throat, so I don't feel like I "lied" about it.  But I probably could've gone in.  On the other hand, it has been snowing here for the last two days and I am just tired of trying to get to work through the snow flakes and raindrops.  So home is where I'll be.

I don't know when it happened, but somehow technology has passed me by.  Girls at work and even my family members have all those "new fangled" iphones and such that you can check emails on, even surf the web -  I still have on old fashioned "flip phone" -  I don't even know how to text messages on it.  I use it for phone calls only. I don't feel like I'm that OLD  -  I was on the bottom floor way before people had their own personal computers and all that.  The company I worked for actually started installing "mini computers" at our clients' offices, and I was the one who had to get them all set up on them-  I think that was probably a mistake, not that the clients wouldn't have gotten their own computers ANYway, eventually, but when my boss started selling those mini computers to clients, well, they didn't exactly need us any more.  We were what was called back then a "computer service bureau".  We processed different companies' billings, accounts payables/receivables, did their inventories, etc -  all for them cuz they didn't have the technology to do it themselves.  We had a "computer room" which was full of those HUGE computers that you had to feed punch cards into to read the data.  We also used magnetic tape which had information on them -  and I even used a small device that processed data right onto a cassette tape (which I thought was pretty cool at the time).  Well, I guess everyone knows where this all led to -  first the Apple PC (I think it was) - what a huge breakthrough, people could actually buy their very own computers to have in their homes.  What a concept.  And look where we have gotten to now ---  Surfing the WEB on a teeny little PHONE!  Who would've thunk it???
I'm glad I was there "at the beginning", but hey, now I'm lost in this big old world of technology.  And I am just at that point where I don't WANT to learn any more.  I guess ignorance can be bliss?

Well, I'm just ranting today.  Maybe I really am sicker than I thought, huh?  Good thing I took the day off work!

Good old cup of coffee

There's nothing I love more than waking up and making my first pot of coffee for the day.  I just poured myself my first cup and wow -  when it's good, it's good!  Love that first cup, and this one today is almost perfect.  I just had to write about it.
It is my Saturday (Wednesday) so I'm in an especially good mood anyway.  I love the three days off every week, even tho my days off are unconventional.  There is nothing better then having Wed/Thurs/Fri off -  some people I work with think those are crummy days, but having the last three days off of the working week are great.  I only have to hassle with the public on two days of the week (unfortunately, they are the worst two days of the week!) and then I have the rest of the week off to really enjoy myself.  Then back to work on Saturday, which is nice cuz it's usually pretty slow and easy-  and then Sunday is even better.  Get all back in the swing of work without the "getting hit right in the face" with problems and calls and other stuff.  I'm glad with the days I work, I'm really glad with the hours I work, and I'm just going to enjoy it while I can.

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's day- I know it's not officially a holiday but it is for me!  Making corned beef and cabbage, drinking my green beer -  Now that is living - especially since I've been on a pretty strict diet since New Year's Day and haven't enjoyed any fattening food at all.  This is what I'm calling my "lost weekend", won't be doing too much jewelry making this weekend.  Just a good eating, drinking and being merry weekend before getting back to the old diet.
I had hoped to lose between 30-40 lbs (I know, kind of irrational there!) by the end of May.  So far I have lost 12 lbs, but the slow going make me think I can eventually reach my goal, although it won't be by the end of May.  Unless, of course, I just starve myself, which that isn't going to happen.  So I think losing at least 20 by then will be okay.  Hopefully more, but 20 will be nice.
Guess that's it.  Just wanted to blog ~~~~~~~~~~~

Time Change

I don't like the time change every spring and fall.  Especially the spring.
I go to bed my usual time, then have to get up a whole hour early the next day?  That's a pain!
For most people who have regular jobs, and work Mon-Fri, well, they have all day Sunday to adjust.  But for those of us who work on weekends, it's a real pain.  I heard somewhere that the time change thing was put into effect so farmers would have more daylight hours in the spring to plant.  Well, Number 1, I don't think farmers even go by clocks, do you?  They start at sunup and end at sundown.  No clock watching there.  It's the rest of us that clock watch.  And if only employers would change our work hours to accommodate these time changes - I have to be at work by 10am, so say, at this time of year, I don't have to be there till 11am - well, I could hang with that.  But this is ridiculous.  And I'm only saying that cuz I'm tired and I still 10 hours of work ahead me.

Just rambling.
Guess that's it for now.
